Apollo Energy: The First B Corp Certified Solar Company in Denver, CO

Updated: Mar 23, 2023

After years of hard work for our customers and community, Apollo Energy is excited to announce our status as a certified B Corporation.

There are only approximately 100 certified B Corps that are Colorado-owned. Of the nearly 500 solar companies in Colorado, Apollo now becomes the third Colorado-owned installer that is B Corp certified. See our complete impact report in our official B Corporation profile.

What is a B Corp?

B Corporations are an international set of businesses defined by balancing purpose and profit to meet the highest standards for social performance, public transparency, legal accountability, and environmental consideration.

To become a B Corporation a company must be certified by B Lab, which is a non-profit organization that has verified organizations in over 70 countries around the world.

You probably know famous B Corps such as:

  • Patagonia

  • Ben & Jerry’s

  • Or Fort Collins own New Belgium Brewing Company

As a certified B Corporation, all of Apollo’s business decisions are required to consider the ethical impact on our workers, customers, suppliers, community, and environment. Of course, that will not be a problem, as ethics have always come first for our company.

What did we do to deserve this?

Apollo Energy has installed over 3 Megawatts (MW) of solar energy in the past 3 years, which is roughly about 10,000 solar panels. Our 3 MW of new solar capacity has offset 4 billion pounds of coal, which has prevented over 3,000 metric tons of CO2 from entering the atmosphere.

On top of this, it is critical to understand that we did not receive our B Corp status on our carbon offset alone. In fact, we are the first B Corp certified solar company in Denver. In addition to improving local air quality and lowering our customer’s utility bills with solar panels, Apollo has consistently been driven to always do the right thing, in every instance.

We believe that consistently incorporating social and environmental impacts into our decision-making is critical for our business’s ongoing success. That’s why at Apollo, it has always been standard to:

  • Pay all of our workers a livable wage

  • Provide employment opportunities for underserved communities

  • Strive for employee retainment and enable room for growth

  • Create the maximum amount of value for our customers

  • Make energy-conscious decisions outside of solar installation

  • Recycle all parts and packaging

  • Make business decisions considering what is best for our employees, partners, and community

The Bottom Line

Apollo Energy is a woman-led company that recognizes that the quality of life for future generations is impacted by the decisions we make today. Our mission has always been to be the change we wish to see in the world by doing what is best for our employees, customers, and community.

For us, a B Corp certification represents a continuous effort to do the right thing. But hey, don’t take our word for it. Feel free to read all of our 5-star reviews from real customers.
